Late PM Pham Van Dong’s 120th birth anniversary commemorated

(VOVWORLD) - A ceremony was held on Sunday in Mo Duc Commune in Quang Ngai Province to mark the 120th birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Pham Van Dong was among the first leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam to mature through revolutionary struggle.

He was recognized as a talented leader with innovative thinking, strategic vision, and outstanding organizational and executive capabilities. Over the course of his career, he held many key positions, contributing to leadership in the resistance wars and national construction while directly overseeing finance and foreign affairs.

Notably, he served as Prime Minister for more than three decades (1955-1987), becoming one of the leaders who helped lay the groundwork for the country’s renewal process in the 20th century.

PM Chinh affirmed that the life and revolutionary career of Pham Van Dong offer many valuable and practical lessons for today’s national development.

These include steadfastness in ideals, resilience in the face of challenges, lifelong loyalty to the goal of national independence associated with socialism, building a state of the people, by the people and for the people, placing the people at the center, promoting intellect and innovation, and advancing education and culture, with education regarded as the top national policy and culture as the spiritual foundation and a driving force of development.
