A march involving tens of thousands of people caused traffic jams in some of Phnom Penh’s major streets despite bans issued by city authorities. Sam Rainsy, the opposition leader, said he will organize 100 additional protests until he achieves his purpose, warning that the opposition will blockade all highways linking Phnom Penh with other areas of the country to put pressure on the government. In response to the opposition’s demands, Prime Minister Hun Sen said the Cambodian Constitution does not give the prime minister the right to dissolve the Parliament. Hun Sen says he and the Royal Government of Cambodia were elected democratically and that he will not resign his term for the next 5 years.
