During briefing in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden named California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to lead the Health and Human Services Department, Dr Rochelle Walensky to serve as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Dr. Anthony Fauci to be chief medical adviser to the President. Biden has selected Jeff Zients to be the White House coordinator of the coronavirus response.
Biden said he will distribute at least 100 million vaccine doses during his first 100 days in the White House, in addition to reopening most of the nation’s schools during the same period. The president-elect once again urged Americans to view mask-wearing not as a "political statement" but as a "patriotic act." He called on the US Congress to fully fund vaccine distribution to all corners of the country, to everyone.
