(VOVworld) – The Kyodo news agency reported Sunday that Japan believes in respecting international law in east Sea disputes. A tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, recently rejected China's claims to disputed waters in the East Sea.

Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida conveyed Japan's views on the issue at a meeting with his Laotian counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith on the sidelines of AMM 49 in Laos’s capital Vientiane.

Kishida called for a peaceful settlement and compliance with international law.
