Japanese Prime Minister begins official visit to Canada

(VOVWORLD) - Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio began his official visit to Canada on Thursday. This is Kishida’s first trip to Canada since he took office last October.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Kishida are expected to discuss Japan's priorities during the country’s presidency of the world's leading industrialized countries G7 this year.

High on the agenda will be continued cooperation on the two countries' common values, including the vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region and ways to further strengthen trade, investment, and innovation for developing economy and benefiting both peoples.

The discussions will focus on ways for Canada and Japan to realize common priorities on a range of issues from free trade to energy security and peacekeeping operations.
