Mr. Kono met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials in Jerusalem and visited Ramallah city to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

On Tuesday, Kono visited Jericho city in the West Bank to inspect an agro-industrial park project, an important part of the “Asian arc of peace and prosperity” program of Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Japan.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry said Kono stands by Japan’s opposition to Trump’s decision. This is his second trip to the Middle East within one month. He will visit Palestine, Jordan, Oman, and Turkey after Israel.
