The rockets, a new type of short-range ballistic missile, reached an altitude of about 100 kilometers. The three countries issued a statement after a closed-door session of the UN Security Council in New York urging North Korea to engage in meaningful negotiations with the US as agreed during a June 30 meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. They said international sanctions must remain in place and be strictly enforced until North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs are dismantled.
