Japan pledges 30 billion USD for Africa’s development in next three years

(VOVWORLD) - Japan will provide 30 billion USD for the development of African countries over the next three years with much investment in human resources and quality of growth, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in his online address at the ongoing Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Tunisia.

At the conference, the eighth of its kind, Kishida insisted that Japan will accompany the development of Africa.

In particular, Japan will increase loans worth 5 billion USD in coordination with the African Development Bank to promote the continent’s sustainable development through financial recovery.

Japan will invest 4 billion USD to achieve green growth through decarbonisation and help Africa increase its food production capacity and train people in agricultural sector. Japan will also assist Africa in preventing and controlling infectious diseases, including AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, as well as in strengthening its health care system.
