(VOVworld) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that he is willing to resume negotiations with the Palestinians "immediately" and "without preconditions," according to a statement from his office. He said in the statement that he’s willing to drive to Ramallah or anyplace else now in order to run direct negotiations. He added that he is still committed to the two-state solution and supports a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside Israel. Netanyahu made the statement in a meeting with a group called "women make peace," established in 2014 after the two-month war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The move came amid rumors of President Abbas’ intent to resign. President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian authority has requested members of his Fatah party to choose three candidates to be his replacement, according to Israeli news sources.
