The same day, the IDF said Israeli Air Force killed several militants in the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, as they attempted to approach Israeli military positions inside the so-called “Yellow Line”. Over the past two days, Israeli military attacks in Gaza have killed at least 50 people.

Israel on Monday also carried out a wave of air strikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. The IDF said Hezbollah is still rebuilding its military infrastructure in Lebanon, violating the November 2024 ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

A Hamas delegation, headed by Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya, met Qatari and Egyptian officials in Cairo on Monday to discuss the continuation of the Gaza ceasefire and ways to form a technocratic body to run Gaza.

US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Monday, urged Israel and Hamas to return to the ceasefire after weekend violence threatened the week-old agreement. US Vice President JD Vance is expected to arrive in Israel on Tuesday.
