(VOVWORLD) - In a social media post on Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel had agreed to an “initial withdrawal line” in the Gaza Strip. According to the US President, once Hamas confirms the arrangement, a ceasefire will take effect “immediately,” followed by prisoner and hostage exchanges, paving the way for Israel’s next withdrawal phase from Palestinian territory.

On the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed he had instructed Israeli negotiators to travel to Egypt for Gaza talks, aiming to conclude discussions within several days. He expressed hope that all hostages held in Gaza would return home soon and vowed to dismantle Hamas “either through President Trump’s diplomatic plan or Israel’s own military actions.”

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry announced it would host delegations from Israel and Hamas on October 6 to negotiate “on-the-ground conditions and details” of the proposed US-brokered ceasefire and the exchange of all Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners.
