(VOVworld) -  Militants from the Islamic State group attacked on Kurdish forces in the Gwer area of northern Iraq, killing 26, security officials said Saturday.

45 gunmen of IS were killed in the clashes. In another development, three members of the Islamic State (IS) terror group were killed Saturday in Syria’s eastern province of Deir al-Zour. The Popular Resistance attacked an IS vehicle on the outskirt of al-Mayadeen city in the countryside of Deir al-Zour on Saturday.  Deir Al Zour province has an important strategic role to IS since it is close to Iraq and IS gunmen are now controlling most of this province.
