Kurdish forces defending Kobane urged a U.S.-led coalition to escalate air strikes on Islamic State fighters who tightened their grip on the Syrian town at the border with Turkey on Saturday.

Kobane, on the border with Turkey, has been an IS objective for the past 3 weeks, prompting some 300 thousand people to flee their homes.
