In an interview with Britain's The Guardian newspaper, Zarif said Iran would continue to develop nuclear technology - though not for weapons purposes - if Europe and the US reimposed sanctions against Tehran. There have been continous threats from the US to abandon the 2015 nuclear deal with the P5+1 group of countries (US, Russia, the UK, France, China plus Germany). According to the deal, which officially took effect last January, Iran would limit its nuclear weapons for international sancions against Tehran to be lifted.
