Iran rejects US offer of unconditional talks

(VOVWORLD) - Iran's Foreign Ministry said the US’s call for talks with Iran is mere wordplay, the Tasnim news agency reported Monday.

Abbas Mousavi, a Ministry spokesman, said Washington's latest expression of readiness for talks with Tehran without any preconditions is wordplay, which is not to be taken as a yardstick for action. His statement was in response to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's remarks in Switzerland that the US is prepared to engage in a conversation with Iran with no preconditions.

China on Monday urged all parties to honor the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying it’s the only realistic and effective way to ease tensions and resolve the Iran nuclear issue.
