(VOVworld) – On Wednesday, IPU-132’s governing council adopted resolutions on the human rights of members of parliaments, cast votes on a new president for the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights, and listened to reports on the outcomes of topical meetings.

(VOVworld) – On Wednesday, IPU-132’s governing council adopted resolutions on the human rights of members of parliaments, cast votes on a new president for the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights, and listened to reports on the outcomes of topical meetings.

IPU President Saber Chowdhury called on parliamentarians worldwide to unite and use their power to protect their colleagues from any violation of human rights.

At the meeting, Madam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Vietnam NA Vice Chairwoman and Chairperson of the 21st Meeting of Women Parliamentarians, briefed the session’s outcomes which took place on Tuesday. Madam Ngan underlined the meeting’s request to promulgate policies and legal documents to secure a safer cyberspace for women.

Bahrain’s representative was elected as new president of the IPU Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights.
