Invalids and Martyrs’ Day observed nationwide

(VOVWORLD) - Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh on Thursday visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged pupils with excellent academic results in Con Dao district, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, in the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27.

On the occasion, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man laid wreaths and offered incense at the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery in central Quang Tri province. The leader also paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel where fierce fighting took place for 81 days and nights in 1972.

The same day, National Assembly Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty met with members of the Traditional Association of Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Trail. He said Vietnamese people always remember the sacrifices and great contributions of generations of soldiers to national unification.
