(VOVworld) – Some 50 countries and international organizations met in Tunis on Tuesday to discuss "international support" for a new unity government in Libya.

The one-day meeting sponsored by the United Nations allowed representatives of the UN-backed government to outline its plan to rebuild Libya’s economy after five years of violence. Libyan Prime Minister Moussa al-Kony said Libya realizes that popular support for the unity government will not last if they doesn’t quickly address urgent needs. British diplomat Christian Turner said it is vital that the new Libyan government make early progress on delivering tangible benefits to the Libyan people.
