(VOVworld) – On Sunday, the UN Security Council criticized North Korea for its declaration of a successful submarine-launched ballistic missile.

In a statement, the UN said it was highly concerned that such ballistic missile testing boosts the nuclear weapon system of North Korea and increases tensions in the area.

South Korea, the United States, and Japan have asked the UN to approve a new resolution strengthening sanctions against North Korea if it conducts a fifth missile test. The new resolution will include stricter terms such as banning oil exports to North Korea, and blocking flights of North Korean Air from entering other countries’ air space. France asked the EU to approve additional punishment of North Korea for its serious violations of UN resolutions.
