The Indonesian Maritime Security Agency urged the Foreign Ministry to take immediate diplomatic action after Chinese vessels were caught trespassing in Indonesian waters last week. The Agency said that between December 19 and December 24 at least 63 Chinese fishing and coast guard vessels entered Natuna waters near the Riau Islands without authorization.

The Foreign Ministry summoned the Chinese Ambassador in Jakarta to protest the violation.
