On Thursday, India announced that Rajasthan and Punjab, the two border states sharing long frontiers with Pakistan, have been placed on high alert. The Indian Air Force in the region has been put on high combat readiness, with missile defense systems activated and fighter jets conducting continuous patrols over the western airspace.
In addition, three major airports in the region, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, and Bikaner, have been shut down until the end of Friday.
Tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate after India launched a counter-offensive "Operation Sindoor" on Wednesday in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam which killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.
The Indian Air Force carried out airstrikes targeting what it described as "terrorist bases" in Pakistan, reportedly killing 70 militants.
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that Pakistani forces had shot down five Indian aircrafts.
