Imported COVID-19 case from Russia brings Vietnam’s tally to 1,095

(VOVWORLD) - A Vietnamese returnee from Russia has been diagnosed with COVID-19, bringing Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus cases to 1,095, the Ministry of Health said on Thursday. 

The new male patient, 49, returned to Vietnam from Russia on flight QH9495 on September 26 and was immediately quarantined upon arrival at Can Tho airport.

On September 30, 3 additional COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear after testing negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,010. The fatality count remains at 35, most of the fatalities elderly people with serious underlying illnesses.

350 Vietnamese citizens returned from Japan Wednesday on a Vietnam Airlines flight arranged by authorities in Vietnam and Japan. The passengers included children under 18, elderly persons, people with illnesses, pregnant women, workers whose contracts have expired, students without accommodation due to dormitory closures, and others in disadvantaged circumstances. Upon arrival at Da Nang International Airport, all crew members and passengers were given medical exams and quarantined in compliance with health regulations.
