Vietnam and the US signed seven cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding, including the Son My LNG Import Terminal Project in Binh Thuan province, worth 2.8 billion USD, between PVGas and AES Corporation, and a 36-million-USD funding to the USAID Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program.

Vu Tien Loc, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, citing the three pillars of the Indo-Pacific cooperation strategy: economics, security, and governance, said the forum plays an important role in strengthening links and promoting an open, free region.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo hailed Vietnam’s role, as Chair of ASEAN for 2020, in steering ASEAN through the pandemic. He underlined the importance of the Indo-Pacific region to US economic interests and affirmed the US’s unchanging commitment to the region. Mr. Pompeo called the US a key player in the region’s prosperity and sustainable development.
