President Zelensky said that security risks have increased significantly after the collapse of Kakhovka hydroelectric dam. He welcomed the presence of IAEA inspectors at the Zaporizhzhia plant.
Both sides also discussed specific measures to minimize risks and future cooperation between Kiev and the IAEA. Zelensky supported Grossi's proposal to send IAEA experts to Ukraine to assess the consequences of the Kakhovka collapse.
Grossi told reporters that he wants to visit Zaporizhzhia power plant to make an independent assessment and discuss with the plant’s managers on security issues. He said that IAEA has asked Russia and Ukraine to enhance efforts to ensure security for the nuclear power plant.
The IAEA Director General plans to visit Russia soon.
