Joining the trip were the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials and ambassadors from Palestine, Uruguay, Laos, Chile, Venezuela, South Africa, Cambodia, Myanmar, Italy, Algeria, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Colombia and Turkey.

Assistant Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said the city’s initiative to host the event will help Hung Yen popularize its culture, destinations, people, and signature farm produce, and enable the city to build its brand and make longan the province’s key export item.

The guests toured longan farms in Hong Nam commune where there are centuries-old longan trees that once produced offerings for kings. The commune now has 150 hectares of longans grown under the Vietnam Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP) standard and yielding more than 2,000 tons of fresh longans annually. Several farms here have been granted a Production Unit Code (PUC), qualifying them for exports to the US.
