The “Occupy Central” movement—one of the Hong Kong protest’s organisers—said the protesters will leave Mongkok to join protesters in the central Admiralty district. They also agreed to remove barricades blockading the entrance of Hong Kong’s government office. A clash occurred early Sunday morning in Mongkok District when police sprayed tear gas on some protesters. Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying urged the protesters on Friday to disburse to restore public order and normal daily activities. The Hong Kong Association of Domestic Tourism said there is clear evidence that the protests have damaged Hong Kong’s economy, as the number of tourists to Hong Kong has decreased in response to the protests and recommendations by some governments that their citizens not go there. Tourism accounts for 4.7 per cent of Hong Kong’s GDP and creates some 250,000 jobs in retail and tourist services.
