Ho Chi Minh City urged to reduce mild cases progressing to severe COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh City's biggest challenge is how to reduce the rate of mild cases progressing to severe and to very severe cases, said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on Monday. He urged the city‘s preparedness for the situation where the number of positive cases continues to rise, despite efforts to send back to community infected cases which are no longer a risk of transmission.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Head of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, on Monday worked with the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City on pandemic combat and vaccination.

He said the Government, especially the Prime Minister, are very concerned about pandemic developments in Ho Chi Minh City. The city has made great efforts to fight the pandemic, but it is necessary to continue to try to separate infection cases from the community and prepare centers to accommodate a large number of cases.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Government has directed the Ministry of Health to urgently apply special procurement mechanisms, creating the most favorable conditions for the provision of medical equipment for frontline forces.

Ho Chi Minh City, the worst hit locality in the fourth wave, has accounted for 40,000 of the country's 62,000 cases.
