Ho Chi Minh City raises nearly 800,000 USD to support the poor during Tet

(VOVWORLD) - The art program “Compassionate Tet – Spring of the Horse 2026” was held in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday, featuring elaborate performances. The “Compassionate Tet” initiative originated from programs such as “Spring Apricot Tree” and “Tet of Kind Deeds,” organized annually by the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers’ Association since 2008.

Over 18 years, the program has mobilized support from numerous organizations, businesses, and individuals, providing assistance to more than 77,000 poor and near-poor farming households, with total funding exceeding 5 million USD.

So far this year, approximately 800,000 USD has been raised to support disadvantaged farmers, spreading a spirit of solidarity and compassion.

According to Nguyen Thanh Trung, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers’ Association, tens of thousands of Tet gift packages have been delivered, charity houses built, and production tools and livelihoods supported, helping farmers stabilize their lives and move toward sustainable development.
