The municipal Department of Industry and Trade said the Ho Chi Minh City now has more than 60 commercial centers in operation, mainly concentrated in Ho Chi Minh City and the urban areas of former Binh Duong and former Ba Ria-Vung Tau cities.
The city has defined key tasks of commercial and service space planning coupled with a multi-center urban area, taking advantage of the sea, and speeding up the restructuring of supply chains of strategic industries in a flexible and proactive manner.
Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said: “Taking advantage of the sea and regional connectivity will be focused on. Priority will be given to the formation of clusters of shopping centers-logistics-wholesale markets-logistics in the south of Nha Be, west of former Binh Chanh, and connecting with belt routes and seaports. The city strongly boost comprehensive digital transformation. Traditional markets, cooperatives, small and medium enterprises will be the focus of transforming operations, administration, payment and supply chain connectivity.”
At the forum, delegates said that as Ho Chi Minh City is entering a new stage of development, the commercial positioning of one city - three centers will help expand the space for commercial service development for the new Ho Chi Minh City.
