Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said at a workshop to hand over the HIV/AIDS prevention project in Vietnam held by Ministry of Health and the World Bank on Wednesday in Hanoi. Mr. Long said in the last 10 years, Vietnam’s HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment has seen positive progress. Thus, it is necessary to duplicate those prevention and treatment models in the near future and calls for more investment from different resources to maintain their activities.

According to the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Department, by late 2012, the number of HIV carriers in Vietnam was around 206,000 people, of whom 59,000 developed AIDS and 60,000 died from the infection.
