The same day, US President Joe Biden called to congratulate Trump and invite him to meet at the White House. Biden promised "to ensure a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together," the White House said in a statement. He has also spoken with Harris about her historic campaign, the statement said.
Biden will address the American people on Thursday to address the election results and the transfer of power.
