Mo Muong is a job and also a performance practiced at funerals, religious festivals, and life cycle rituals by the Muong ethnic minority.

Mo Muong has a long history, spanning centuries.

In Hanoi, Mo Muong is practiced in places like Ba Vi, Thach That, and Quoc Oai district that have a significant population of Muong people.

The authorities are preparing dossiers to request that Mo Muong be recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
