Nguyen Thi Ly, 70, said she has never missed this 100-year-old market session since becoming a daughter-in-law in Moc village.

“Today I go back and forth multiple times because the market’s atmosphere excites everyone, both the elderly and the young,” said Ly.

This year the Moc villagers and visitors were treated to an array of daily necessities and typical Tet items such as dong leaves for making the iconic Chung cake. For them, this special market session marks the arrival of Tet.

“In the past, people from the neighborhoods brought local products to sell here. Now there are more things. Going to the market is not just about shopping for Tet but also to enjoy the warm and exciting Tet atmosphere. It has been bustling here since 6 o’clock,” said a shopper from Long Bien district.

“The market is closely associated with our childhood. When I was a child, I eagerly looked forward to the market to buy candies, balloons, and fragrant leaves for bathing. It’s really enjoyable. I want my children to experience the traditional Tet market atmosphere and feel a closer bond with their family and homeland,” said a Moc villager.
