Thuong Cat bridge which is 820m long and 33m wide is a lifeline traffic project of the northwest area of Hanoi capital Bac Tu Liem district to Dong Anh district. The 8-lane bridge is expected to complete the capital’s transportation infrastructure system, connect the central urban area with the suburban area, support travel needs, and reduce traffic congestion, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.

Three other bridges – Van Phuc, Hong Ha and Me So – will break ground this year. Of these bridges, Hong Ha and Me So are the two bridges on Ring Road 4 that are expected to create a turning point for the capital’s development.

According to planning from now until 2030, Hanoi will have four more bridges - Tu Lien, Tran Hung Dao, Ngoc Hoi and Phu Xuyen – that connect the two banks of the Red River. More than 100 years ago, Long Bien was the first iron bridge connecting the two banks of the Red River, becoming part of Hanoi’s history.

Currently, the city has eight bridges spanning the Red River which are both historical witnesses and a highlight for the city’s development.
