Ha Giang landslide: 11 killed, search intensified

(VOVWORLD) -As of 3 p.m. Saturday, 11 people were reported dead and four others were injured as a severe landslide buried a passenger bus running on the Ha Giang-Cao Bang route in northern Vietnam.

The accident occurred at 4 a.m. the same day on Highway 34, in Ta Mo village, Yen Dinh commune, Bac Me district, Ha Giang province.  

Ha Thi Minh Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang province, said that from 5 a.m., the province directed the police, army, and on-site forces to search for victims as fast as possible.

More than 100 officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command and the Police force have actively carried out search and rescue operation. Hospital staff are working hard to treat the injured. Families of deceased victims are assisted with the funeral arrangements.
