Chinh made the request while chairing the 17th meeting of the State Steering Committee for Major National Projects and Key Transport Projects.
Construction Minister Tran Hong Minh said Vietnam has discussed with China the provision of the best preferential loan package for the project while enhancing training and capacity building for the railway workforce to perform their tasks on schedule.
Prime Minister Chinh said improving transport infrastructure, especially railway projects, is crucial for promoting socio-economic growth. “The Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway line is of great importance for us to diversify markets, products, and supply chains. It will be a vital artery connecting Europe and Central Asia. This is a key task highlighted in the Conclusions of the 11th plenum of the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly’s Resolution. Nine provinces along the railway route must enhance efforts to begin construction this year,” Mr. Chinh said.
The Prime Minister requested enhanced efforts to complete the goal of putting 3,000 km of expressways into operation this year, ensure expressway connectivity from Cao Bang to Ca Mau, and complete 1,000 km of coastal roads and the project on Long Thanh International Airport.
To this end, the Prime Minister asked ministries, sectors and localities to be resolute and make greater efforts to accelerate the project implementation.
