Steinmeier said it is necessary to wipe out the root of the current migration crisis in Europe, which is the Syria crisis. He urged the international community to seek diplomatic solutions to the Syria crisis with the participation of all related parties, including Russia. Kerry said the Syria crisis should be addressed through peaceful means and Russia should be involved in this process. Kerry reiterated the US stance that Syrian President Bashar Al Assad should step down.
