German Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks announced German’s ambition to exit fossil energy sources by 2050. She said Germany will do more to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to 1990 levels by 2020, and by 80-95% by 2050. Many big German corporations asked the government for a tougher environment plan. Meanwhile, German Federation of Industry President Ulrich Grillo said the government needs to pay attention to EU’s joint targets rather than setting detailed targets for Germany.
