(VOVworld) – The US Ambassador to Germany, John Emerson, has been called to a meeting at German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Office to explain recent WikiLeaks disclosures, which show that the US National Security Agency (NSA) spied on Germany’s government ministries and cabinet members.

The documents highlight 69 telephone and fax numbers which are still in use, indicating that the spying could be ongoing. However, the most recent WikiLeaks data hails from 2011.
WikiLeaks published 2 new items: one is an NSA recording of telephone calls between Merkel and her assistants and the other is a recording of Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, Merkel’s chief adviser for European affairs.
