(VOVWORLD) -The image of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a leader who always took care of ethnic people, will live forever in the hearts of the Mong, Dao, and Thai people in the northwestern provinces.

They will remember an excellent leader who led the nation to overcome many difficulties and challenges, gained socio-economic achievements, and enhanced the nation’s international status.

Trieu Thi Nhay of Hamlet 2 Tuc in Phuc Loi commune, Yen Bai province, was moved to say that the ethnic people, have deep sorrow over the passing of General Secretary Trong.

“He was one of the most outstanding leaders of the Party and State, a shining example of simplicity, closeness, humility, exemplary behavior, and devotion to the nation and people,” said Nhay, adding, “The General Secretary listened to all the opinions and recommendations made by the people and directed functional agencies to resolve them in a reasonable manner. We’d love to say thank you to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for giving the people a prosperous and happy life."

Officials, Party members, and people of the Mong, Dao, and Thai ethnic groups remembered Party leader Trong’s advice when he visited the northwestern hamlets: Stay united to make the village more prosperous.

Vu A Sa, Secretary of the Party Committee of Pa Long commune in Thuan Chau  district, Son La province, said, “The General Secretary was a leader with a great heart, far-sighted vision, and understanding of the people.”

A Sa noted that throughout his revolutionary life, Mr. Trong gave special attention to the living conditions of the people and to major policies specifically for ethnic minorities in remote, disadvantaged areas – policies to develop agro-forestry production in ethnic minority areas, infrastructure investment policies to serve production and poverty reduction, education and training policies to improve human resource quality, vocational training and job creation, healthcare and population policies, and policies to preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.

“Thanks to those policies, we have had a better life. The Mong ethnic people have taken to heart the General Secretary’s advice," A Sa concluded.
