(VOVworld) – Gala Euro 2016, a special event to welcome the world’s second most popular football event, took place on Thursday in Hanoi. The event was co-organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam and French culture centre L’Espace. Delphine Malard, First Counselor of the EU Delegation to Vietnam said Euro 2016 takes place from June 10 to July 10 with 24 football teams competing. Around 9.5 million people are expected to watch the matches in France or on TV.
The gala night featured a special fashion performance, presenting a collection inspired by football and created by Hanoi-based Spanish branch Chula. A special screening of the movie “Looking for Eric”, starring famous football player Eric Cantona, was also shown.
Nguyen Hong Anh attended the event: “Eric Cantona is a French football player but played for a British football club and is widely admired in Britain. The film is about the legendary football player. He is not only an excellent player, but also has a great personality”.
On this occasion, the EU Delegation to Vietnam presented prizes to the 3 winners of an online contest on Euro 2016.
