G7 Environment Ministers’ meeting opens in Japan

(VOVworld) – Japan’s Environment Minister Tamayo Marukawa called for stronger cooperation towards a sustainable society at the opening session of the G7 Environment Ministers’ Meeting on Sunday in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. Participants reviewed progress in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including poverty reduction and waste recycling.  

Their coming discussions will focus on climate change and efforts of G7 countries to support the early implementation of the Paris Agreement.

The meeting is part of a series of G7 Ministers’ Meetings prior to the G7 Summit to be held in Mie prefecture in late May.
