Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said there were calls for a ceasefire and access to Gaza for humanitarian aid, while many countries criticized Israel's military offensive in Rafah.

Meanwhile, Israel on the same day conducted air strikes on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip while regional and Western countries are trying to promote negotiations to reach a temporary ceasefire agreement and the release the hostages.

According to the civil defense agency in Gaza, the bombardment left "many people dead".
