The Ministry said earlier that Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh continue to perform their mission amid rising tensions, providing all possible assistance to civilians. According to the Ministry, 2,261 civilians, including 1,000 children, are currently staying at the peacekeepers’ base camp.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced an agreement to suspend anti-terrorism measures in Nagorny-Karabakh, which took effect at 1 pm on Wednesday.
Nagorno-Karabakh is a mountainous region at the southern end of the Karabakh mountain range in Azerbaijan. It is internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan, but most of its inhabitants are predominantly ethnic Armenians and want to merge with Armenia.
