The detainees included three girls and three boys between the ages of 15 and 17, with various citizenships, and a 24-year-old Swiss man.

A police statement said that more than 100 people gathered in downtown Lausanne on Saturday evening and smashed shop windows, responding to appeals on social media linked to several nights of violence that have shaken France. Police were deployed and no casualties were reported. Authorities are investigating the incident.

France saw a fifth night of riots on Saturday following the death of a teenager killed at the hands of a police officer. Though the level of violence has decreased, incidents are still being reported. The mayor of L'Haÿ les Roses said rioters drove a car into his house, causing injuries to his wife and child before setting his house ablaze. Prosecutors said they are investigating the case as an attempted homicide.

So far, the police have arrested some 2,000 people. 45 police officers have been injured, hundreds of vehicles burned, and several houses set on fire.
