French President begins state visit to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -President of France Emmanuel Macron and his spouse Brigitte Macron arrived in Hanoi on Sunday evening, beginning a state visit to Vietnam until Tuesday at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Luong Cuong.

This is Mr. Macron's first visit to Vietnam as President of France. Vietnam is the first leg in his tour of three Southeast Asian countries which will also take him to Indonesia and Singapore.

President Macron’s entourage include Minister of the Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty Eric Lombard, Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu, Minister of Culture Rachida Dati, Minister attached to the Minister for the Interior François-Noël Buffet, and Minister of State for Francophonie and International Partnerships attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Thani Mohamed Soilihi.

During President Macron's visit, many specific fields and projects will be discussed in depth between Vietnam and France to boost economic-trade-investment priorities, strengthen defense-security cooperation, innovation, science and technology, education and training, and healthcare.
