France’s Senate President visits Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher on Thursday began a two-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

He is accompanied by Senator Christian Cambon, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Armed Forces, Senator Catherine Deroche, Chairman of the France-Vietnam Friendship Group and Chairman of the Committee on Social Affairs, and Senator Eliane Assassi, Chairman of the Communist, Republican, Citizen and Ecological Group of the Senate.

During the visit, in addition to meeting with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Senate President Larcher will pay courtesy visits to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other senior leaders.

The delegation will have discussions with the French business community and visit one of the iconic economic projects of the France-Vietnam relationship: the urban railway line No. 3 of Hanoi funded by France and undertaken by a consortium of French companies.

The French Senate President will inaugurate the new facility of the French Institute in Hanoi, which proudly bears the colors of French culture and of the Francophone Community.

The Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman and the French Senate President will launch activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
