(VOVworld) – France marked its 226th National Day with a parade in the Champs Elysees, between the Arch of Triumph and the Place de la Concorde.

The parade involved 3,500 soldiers, 200 vehicles, and 240 cavalrymen of the French Republican Guard. A display of 55 fighter jets was the highlight of the celebration. France took Bastille Day, July 14, as the symbol of the victory of the French Revolution. That day was later designated French National Day.
