Forum analyzes Vietnam’s urbanization direction

(VOVWORLD) -1,500 domestic and international experts discussed "Sustainable urban development towards a green, smart city, adapting to climate change, preventing and fighting natural disasters and epidemics" at a forum in Hanoi on Friday.

The Vietnam Urban Sustainable Development Forum 2022 jointly organized by the Central Economic Commission and the Ministry of Construction analyzed and clarified the strategic direction of urbanization, urban development and urban economic development in Vietnam to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh told the forum: “Ministries, sectors and localities should prioritize scientific tasks, coordinate with international organizations, and implement technical assistance projects to continue to provide arguments for comprehensive theory on urban planning and development suitable with regions across country. This is to ensure reasonable space and effective strict control of urban areas, land resources, working population, resources to ensure the quality, effectiveness, feasibility and sustainability as well as resilience to climate change and epidemics amid the new global development context.”

In January 2022, Vietnam issued a Resolution on "Planning, construction, management and sustainable development of Vietnam's urban areas up to 2030, with a vision to 2045", affirming its determination to develop sustainable urban areas amid globalization and international integration.
