Mr. Doan was elected to the National Assembly in January 1946 and became the top legislator in November of the same year. National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said Chairman Doan stood side by side with President HCM and the Government to steer Vietnam in one of the most difficult periods of the revolution.

“Mr. Bui Bang Doan was a  model  patriotic scholar who devoted his whole life to the nation and the people. He has been an inspiration for generations of Vietnamese in national construction and defense,” Ms. Ngan said.

Mr. Bui Bang Doan was awarded the Independence Order, first class, and has also had streets named after him in Hanoi, HCM city and Nam Dinh province.
